How it works

Signals, not guesses.

AdQuiet reads what the streaming player already shows you — ad badges, countdowns, Skip Ad buttons. It never captures video, decrypts streams, or listens to audio.
  1. NORMAL

    Your show is playing. AdQuiet watches page changes, not your video.

  2. POSSIBLE_AD

    An ad label, countdown or Skip button appeared. Waiting for confirmation.

  3. CONFIRMED_AD

    Signals stayed consistent with enough confidence.

  4. MUTED

    The tab is muted. Your previous mute setting was saved first.

  5. POSSIBLE_CONTENT_RETURN

    Ad indicators disappeared. Waiting a moment to avoid gaps between ads.

  6. RESTORED

    Sound is back — only if AdQuiet muted it and you didn't change it.

Safety nets

A failsafe restores sound after 4 minutes, and on navigation or tab close.

What it can't do

Ads with no visible indicator — like some baked-in live TV breaks — can't be reliably detected.
